Terry Eaton
Terry Eaton is the Founder and Principal at the Eaton Law Firm, PLLC. Mr. Eaton focuses his practice defending individuals, corporate executives and board members and government officials who have been charged or are under investigation for white collar criminal offenses in federal and state courts. Mr. Eaton’s White Collar Practice includes: including campaign finance violations, health care and securities fraud, cyber/internet related crimes, bribery, money laundering, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act cases and Congressional and Executive Branch Agency Investigations. Mr. Eaton also passionately defends clients in a variety of criminal cases in state and federal court throughout the country.
Mr. Eaton is a seasoned and experienced trial attorney. He has been lead counsel in more than 36 criminal cases, including 24 jury trials in both federal and state courts. Prior to creating the Eaton Law Firm, he served with distinction for almost six years as an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, D.C. There he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases, conducted more than 100 Grand Jury Investigations including federal Title III Wiretap Investigations. Mr. Eaton also authored numerous appellate briefs and argued those cases for the government before the D.C. Court of Appeals. In 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office recognized his efforts with a prestigious Department of Justice Special Achievement Award. Mr. Eaton’s talents are well regarded and respected by prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement and judges in the Washington, DC region and throughout.
Mr. Eaton also has extensive litigation experience in the private sector both in the corporate legal community and in private law firms in Washington, D.C. Prior to founding the Eaton Law Firm, he served as an Assistant General Counsel at Washington Gas Light Company, where he managed a variety of complex commercial litigation matters. Mr. Eaton also worked as a Commercial Litigation Associate at Dickstein Shapiro, LLP, where he handled internal corporate and government investigations, and litigated matters involving securities fraud, commercial insurance coverage, bribery, mail and wire fraud and ethical issues involving lobbying activities. Finally, Mr. Eaton served as a Labor and Employment Associate at Epstein Becker Green, P.C., where he focused his practice on employment discrimination cases and traditional labor collective bargaining.
Mr. Eaton graduated from Duke University School of Law, where he was Symposium Editor for the Duke Environmental Law & Policy Forum. Mr. Eaton earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with honors, where he served as Student Body President. Mr. Eaton began his career serving as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable James S. Gwin, United States District Court Judge for the Northern District of Ohio in Cleveland. Prior to law school, Mr. Eaton worked as a White House Intern and taught English in Japan in the Japanese Exchange & Teaching Program.
